About OPWAS
The Odia Peoples Welfare Association Secunderabad (OPWAS) was established on July 18, 2022, by President Mr. R R Mahapatra in Secunderabad, Telangana. The association was formed with the primary objective of bringing together the Odia community residing in the region and ensuring their overall welfare, cultural preservation, and social unity.
OPWAS actively works to support the Odia people by organizing various cultural programs, community gatherings, and welfare initiatives. It plays a vital role in celebrating important Odia festivals, fostering a sense of belonging among members, and strengthening the cultural heritage of the community. The association is committed to addressing the needs of Odia residents, providing them with a platform for engagement, and creating opportunities for social and cultural development.

Purpose
OPWAS aims to:
Foster the welfare and cultural unity of the Odia community in Secunderabad.
Organize events and celebrations to preserve and promote Odia traditions.
Advocate for the construction of a Jagannath Temple in Secunderabad, addressing the absence of such a temple in the region. The association actively collaborates with the government to achieve this goal.

Since its inception, OPWAS has actively engaged in various events and social welfare activities, showcasing the true strength and commitment of the association. Our efforts have been focused on supporting Odia brothers and sisters in need, whether by providing financial assistance during emergencies or ensuring access to essential facilities and resources.
We take pride in organizing and participating in numerous cultural and community-driven events, including:
OPWAS Sri Jagganath Rath Yatra - Actively supporting and participating in the grand chariot pulling processions.
OPWAS Raising Day – Celebrating the foundation and achievements of our association.
Utkal Divas Celebration – Honoring the rich heritage and legacy of Odisha.
Contributions to Jagannath Yatras – Actively supporting and participating in the grand processions.
Boita Bandana Celebration – Preserving and promoting Odisha’s maritime traditions.
Independence Day Celebration – Fostering national pride and unity within the community.
Representation of Odisha’s Culture – Showcasing Odia traditions at government events.
Participation in Telangana Sweet and Kite Festival – Promoting cultural exchange and unity.
Through these and many more initiatives, OPWAS continues to strengthen community bonds, preserve Odia traditions, and support those in need, making a meaningful impact in Secunderabad.
